Hi, first things first… I’m not really called Girl next the Sea. My name is Harriet Cooper and I’m an experienced editor, journalist, copywriter and content provider. My specialisms are lifestyle and travel.
I first cut my journalism teeth in 1999 on Hello! magazine and have since worked on the features desk of the Evening Standard and as Features Editor at Red magazine, before heading over to content marketing agency Cedar where I spent many years working on British Airways’ High Life magazine and The London Magazine, published for CLEA.
I started freelancing when we moved from London to Cley-next-the-Sea, a small village on the North Norfolk coast. I contribute to luxury woman's magazine The Glossary as its Associate Editor and I write regularly for North Norfolk Living magazine, as well as creating and editing content for everyone from British Airways, Mandarin Oriental and Eurostar to English Heritage, the RSPB, the Royal Opera House, IWG and AllBright.
North Norfolk is a place which I have quickly grown to love (who wouldn’t?), hence my Girl next the Sea blog. I will be posting about anything and anyone that catches my eye - hopefully you’ll enjoy my musings.
I’m always keen to hear about commissions, projects, ideas and collaborations, so do contact me via the website or you can email me directly at . You can also follow me on Instagram @girlnextthesea
